Thank you for this insightful take on the changing power dynamics. As you note, Degrowth is an opportunity here both for those on the end of the plundering as well for those adversely affected by the fallout. I fear the likelihood of this opportunity being taken up in the North, at least, will be dependent on the break between politicians and the corporations and their funding allies.

Projecting the logic of your argument, this may come about when politicians can no longer maintiain the upward flow of wealth and cease to be useful in this respect. The most likely scenario is that the general population will no longer be able to afford to buy goods or rent to the levels required to be profitable. The question is whether this happens before the mass uprising or not.

In the UK the renewed Green Party offers some hope of a change of tack but I fear the entrenched capitalist forces will extract a toll too costly for a party charting an untried course and a fearful population will turn to a capitalist-friendly alternative to avert their wrath.

Am I being too cynical?

Excellent, thoroughly enjoyed that article. If the state of things at present impacts favourably on Degrowth then perhaps there is a silver lining?
