India’s support for Israel reveals a deep colonial-capitalist connection
We are Shrishti and Prashant, two political activists from India. As Israel’s assault on Gaza continues, conversations about Palestine have increasingly become conversations about the global political order that enables it. In this discussion, we explore the growing relationship between India and Israel, examining how military cooperation, surveillance technologies, and political alignments have deepened over the past decade, and what that means for democracy, dissent, and solidarity.
The conversation looks at India’s complicity in the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the suppression of pro-Palestinian voices in India and elsewhere, and the ideological affinities between Hindutva and Zionism. We also discuss how technologies, narratives, and methods of repression often travel across borders, making Palestine not a distant issue but one that is deeply connected to struggles for civil liberties and justice around the world.
Beyond analysing state power, we reflect on the importance of building transnational solidarities in the face of a growing global far right. As authoritarian movements increasingly learn from and support one another across national boundaries, justice movements must also think and organise internationally. We also discuss the particular responsibilities of the Global North and the minority world in confronting genocide, resisting authoritarianism, and supporting those on the frontlines of occupation and oppression.
At its heart, this is a conversation about solidarity: why Palestine matters far beyond its borders, and why our collective response to injustice will shape the kind of world we choose to build.
